The city has a MS4 stormwater permit, that required them to have an education program for the city to about stormwater and conservation of water. This position gave me the opportunity to work with local groups to do projects dealing with stormwater education. Some of the projects I completed during that project. * First Project: Getting 4-Clubs/youth groups involved with storm-drain stenciling within the city. * Second Project: Presentation to public at various city events information on storm water and stribute informational brochures on water related subjects. * Third Project: Researched, reviewed, and wrote environmental information on various topics that was added to the city website to inform/educate the public on issues from stormwater to old prescription drug drop-off sites to recycling sites in the area and more. * Final Project: Construction of a rain garden located at the city airport adjacent to the solar building. This rain garden was installed to assist with the stormwater runoff and also for educational purposes for the public. All in all, my year with the project was very fulfilling and an enjoyable time but also very educational for the public and myself. Just as a plug if you have the opportunity to join an AmeriCorps project go for it because you do get out of it more than you put in. Show more Show less
