I worked on two projects during my time here. The first project was to implement machine learning algorithms to automate the decision making process during the make-up process between a pair of casings in oil wells. The second project I worked on was to build a surrogate model for approximating a non-differentiable and non-continuous function with as few data points as possible, for a multitude of downstream tasks. Surrogate Modelling for Parasitic Drag Calculations Investigated and implemented a novel Response Surface Modelling method for extremely fast, yet highly accurate system of drag calculations for Airbus aircraft. Developed a fully automated routine that increased the efficiency of drag calculation to an average of 97% while decreasing the time of processing drag values for a single test case from 8 hours, previously, to 10 seconds. Also pitched in the idea of using the newly created automated routine to roughly design the individual parts of the aircraft in the early stages so as to improve the efficiency of the design stage of manufacturing. My product was well received and is expected to be used in the processing of drag numbers for Airbus A320NEO and Airbus A330NEO aircraft soon. Show less
