Early Primary Teacher
-
Jan 2014 - Jun 2014
I taught a pre primary intro class of 4 to 5 year olds. The class was designed to prepare children for their first years in Primary school. I followed the Early years framework and early learning goals ensuring children engaged in play and practical experiences to enhance their learning. For example I organised the Basel police to visit the children in school; we visited the local fire station and the local children’s hospital (Kinderspital) to learn about the role of doctors. Religious Education Teacher
-
Sep 2006 - Jul 2012
I successfully led RE across two primary schools, teaching children from Reception to Year 6. I raised the profile and understanding of the subject through organising visits to places of worship for all of the main religions and ensuring that teaching and learning used a variety of methods to engage and help children to learn; these included running an Easter and Christmas Labryinth, use of role play, drama and music and helping children to connect and talk to people of faith e.g. via email links with a school in Manchester, or emailing local believers. In 2007 and 2010 Ofsted commended the RE provision across the federation; children from Rose Street (part of the federation) won The Kent SACRE award for art in RE earning the school a recognition for outstanding RE provision. I also worked with a group of RE teachers from across Kent, led by Liz Pope from Highworth Grammar school, to create a resource showcasing assessment in RE. Show less
