      - In the lab of Dr. John Thompson under a $5,000 Boettcher Foundation Collaboration Grant: “Real-time computer vision analysis for improving outcomes in the operating room during deep brain stimulation implantation for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.”- Utilize DeepLabCut (Python tool) and MATLAB coding software to track and operationalize hand gesture movement and neuron activity (neurophysiological data) during surgical procedures of deep brain stimulation (DBS) for patients with Parkinson's disease.- Create a coded, trained network of manually-assessed frames that employs an objective, mathematical approach to measuring the gait/control of fine motor skills during surgery (n=11 cases, 176,946 individual labels, 330,074 total frames) to reveal the efficacious movement tracking at various electrode depths, with high accuracy. Correlated it to electrophysiology via Matlab with Hidden Markov Models and kinematics measures to identify gross and nuanced neuromotor behavior.- Develop an objective neuromotor identification pipeline employing Euclidean distance peak epochs and electrophysiological recordings compared to an exemplar clustered set.- Perform data analysis of acquired data to make it more concise and usable in DeepLabCut and Mathematica coding platforms.- Attend learning sessions, coding classes, and conferences on recent advances in the field of computational neuroscience to supplement and support progress in the lab.- Employ and disseminate knowledge of DeepLabCut to ancillary lab teams in the departments of Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Neuropsychology given expert skills in such domains.- Give formal presentations of findings in June, July, August, and September, the latter of which is at a research summit at Colorado College.
