I worked as a Public Health Associate under the Integrated Response to Public Health Emergencies in Nigeria (IRPHEN) Project, a US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded project being implemented by Pro-Health International (PHI) in partnership with the Port Health Services (Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria). o General Functions:  Built and strengthened health systems at PoEs (Points of Entries) in Nigeria to prevent, detect, respond and recover from Public Health Emergencies of International Concern. o Specific Functions:  Successfully facilitated Public Health Emergency Drills (Table Top Exercises) at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, Nigeria (MMIA).  Contributed to the development of a Public Health Emergency Contingency Plan for MMIA Lagos, Nigeria.  Participated in Core Planning Team and Stakeholders Meetings, IHR baseline assessments at POEs in Nigeria which led to the development of emergency plans.  Monitored Integrated Disease Surveillance Response (IDSR) Reporting at MMIA Lagos for prompt reporting of diseases of concern.  Provided supervisory support to Port Health Services (PHS) on passenger visual screening at MMIA arrival and departure halls which led to the adoption of better screening measures.  Developed Public health materials, SOPs and facilitated training for staff of agencies at MMIA to promote better public health practices.  Used Hausa language skills to successfully facilitate Focus Group Discussions on population mobility mapping of cattle herders in Western Nigeria.
