    • Interventional Cardiology
      • Feb 2021 - Mar 2021

Shadowing the Cath Lab team I developed a deeper understanding of angiography and other diagnostic methods (eg: OCT,IVUS), basics of interventional cardiology and relevant principles of internal medicine and related fields in the management of cardiac patients. Most commonly observed PCI procedures include coronary artery/graft angiography, balloon angioplasty, stent implantation, PFO closure, TAVI and follow-up.It has been particularly interesting to see the cooperation between the departments of internal medicine, interventional cardiology, coronary care unit and cardiothoracic surgery.

    • Surgery Intern
      • Jan 2022 - Mar 2022

Attending Consultant-led ward rounds have provided insight into the role and daily tasks of an FY1 and FY2 Junior Doctor in General and Specialised Surgery rotations. Additionally, I have regularly attended MDT meetings reviewing patients for their eligibility to receive Bariatric interventions such as laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomies or a variety of gastric by-pass operations as appropriately indicated, under the auspices and leadership of a well-established and world-renowned service. Weekends with the on-call Trauma and Emergency Surgery teams have further provided me with the opportunity to observe and assist in theatre at a basic level, mainly learning to operate the camera during appendectomies, lap choles, a range of keyhole hernia repairs and developing suturing skills, whilst gaining familiarity with equipment and detailed specifics of the relevant procedures and techniques.

    • Pandemic Medic
      • Mar 2020 - Feb 2021

This position started in March 2020, as a national emergency response initiative calling for medical students to join frontline forces in the battle against the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic.Serving in the Ambulatory Clinic of Internal Medicine, Military Hospital Brno allowed me to see a variety of non-traumatic emergent presentations and less severe walk-in cases, whilst also having a direct role in the primary triage and subsequent management of patients. Occasionally, I was able to gain insight into the continuity of care, sometimes over a period of several days.I was able to further develop my understanding of the patient-doctor relationship, history taking, physical examination, interpretation of labs and imaging, building a differential and working diagnosis, treatment/management plans and safe discharge or referral.Duties:Basic patient triage, acquiring vitals (including BP, T°C, SpO2, RR), correctly attach electrodes and obtain adequate ECG, venipuncture + ABG (bedside troponins & Biochemistry runs), transport patients between radiology, ICU and other relevant departments.

Education
