Sula would make an excellent member of any team lucky enough to have him. Working for me at Claremont Graduate University, Sula has contributed to the continued growth of our office by volunteering to take on additional projects and opportunities, participating in meetings, and holding himself to high standards in his work. He is always prompt and courteous, and his position requires him to work constantly with others, including the navigation of sometimes-substantial cultural and language differences. This would make him well-suited to any public/client-facing roles, and just an all-around positive team member. Sula is also remarkably thoughtful. He has a sharp critical mind, and is able to make fine but necessary distinctions between concepts in order to get at the heart of a question. That also makes him a systematic thinker who can figure out the necessary steps for completing a task on his own. He seems to feel very comfortable working independently, but knows when to ask for clarification or assistance. I have every confidence that Sula will be up for whatever challenge is thrown his way. Don't mistake Sula's laid-back, soft-spoken manner for indifference; he is thoroughly engaged, friendly, and meticulous with his words. And he's got great taste in music! It's been a pleasure to get to know him over this past year.

I have supported multiple editors in the humanities in managing projects from proposal through to production. In addition to my editorial experience, I have been involved with production, marketing and royalties’ responsibilities. Outside of my editorial workload, I have dedicated much of my time to developing extra-textual possibilities for digital projects as related to the digital archaeology series. I have also led and developed initiatives for company based activism.

I wrote reader reports for manuscripts of fiction, non-fiction, and children's titles and assisted broadly with responsibilities across marketing and editorial. My responsibilities included drafting newsletters in MailChimp, writing blog posts in Squarespace, and composing press releases. Beyond general office duties, such as organizing files, doing mailings, and taking meeting minutes, I also researched author tour and event information, created promotional copy, and reported on comparable titles. I was also responsible for tracking relevant news for social media posting (Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter). Show less

In addition to marketing duties such as researching media outlets and online bloggers/influencers, writing title copy and correspondence for promotional mailings, and sending out galley mailings, I made time to reach out to multiple editors for whom I read unsolicited manuscripts, composed reader reports, prepared correspondence for editorial letters, transcribed and contributed manuscript notes, and offered general office support. I conducted in-person and online consultations offering both ESL and native-speaking students argumentation and editing instruction. The work I edited was from a range of disciplines and styles. Outside of consultations, I taught workshops in literature review methodology, giving presentations, and public speaking. Additionally, I worked as a Writing Fellow, incorporating writing instruction into classes across disciplines. I identified and contacted local artists and authors for the KVC-Arts show producer and then also coordinated and produced interviews. Additionally, I helped manage and update the KVC-Arts online archives, including reviewing image copyrights and fact checking content. Day to day, I would prepare and relay documents and sound clips for live news reports.
