Jason either is a robot or runs on an amazing engine because he can multitask with the best of them. There is no limit to Jason's potential and if I could say he has only one dominating trait, it would be his drive to do good work. Good meaning not just the quality of his work, but good in wanting to better the community and the people in it.

Rick Kos, AICP

In the spring 2012 semester Jason successfully completed a number of highly detailed street audits for two future mixed-use corridors in San Jose, with a focus on a documentation of current conditions and redevelopment opportunity sites. I personally selected the students in that course and Jason was an easy pick due to his excellent work in previous courses. His leadership and management skills were evident as he effectively coordinated the audit work of seven fellow students. From a project management perspective, this made my job considerably easier and Jason was always eager to volunteer in the wonderfully cheerful manner to which we’ve all become accustomed in the Masters of Urban Planning program at SJSU. The project client, Greenbelt Alliance, local community members, faculty, and his peers have all noted his obvious passion for the field of urban planning and desire to strengthen and improve communities. I also had the pleasure of having Jason in a second course: Introduction to GIS for Urban Planners. Jason had never used ArcGIS software before and, by the end of the course, he developed a noticeably high degree of confidence and facility with it. He demonstrated a consistently above average ability to grasp fundamental geospatial analysis concepts and worked very hard to use the software for a variety of analyses. His final independent project in the course focused on mapping employer concentrations in the city of Mountain View, CA. Jason is the president of our student-led Urban Planning Coalition and he has been instrumental in exposing our student body of a number of professional growth opportunities including guest speakers and arranging a symposium on public-private partnerships, attended by many Bay Area planners and real estate developers. Jason actively pursues opportunities to maximize his education and experience. His passion shows his willingness to serve and represent San Jose State University, the student body, the urban planning field, and local communities. He is an outstanding student with great curiosity and a vision to execute change in the community.

The Guadalupe River Park Conservancy provides community leadership for the development and active use of the Guadalupe River Park, with a vision to elevate our civic greenway into San Jose's front yard. I enthusiastically support a capable team and committed board of a 25+ year old organization with deep roots in a community championing the vision of the Guadalupe River Park. My goal is to link communities, ideas, and opportunities to further promote and cherish our unique natural and civic asset. Our work aims to connect people to nature and each other, and uplift neighborhoods through the River Park. The Guadalupe River Park is a three-mile ribbon of park land that runs along the banks of the Guadalupe River in the heart of downtown San Jose. It is a resource of regional importance to the people of Santa Clara County and the Bay Area.
