  I am Coordinator of AICTE-IDEA (Idea Development, Evaluation & Application) Lab which is a prestigious scheme of AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) – an apex body under Ministry of Education, AICTE-IDEA Labs will be encouraging students for application of science, technologies, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fundamentals towards enhanced hands-on experience, learning by doing and product visualization. In the first phase, 49 institutes in India are selected for the prestigious project. SGGSIET was one among 5 institutes in Maharashtra and the only institute from Marathwada and Vidarbha to get selected for this coveted scheme. Currently, there are 94 such labs in India. Ours is the only such lab in Marathwada. Under this scheme, the grant of Rs. 1.1 Crore is envisaged - AICTE share is Rs. 55 Lakhs and the institute share is Rs. 55 Lakhs. The institutes were selected based on infrastructure and Industrial collaborations. IDEA Lab will be a common facility in the institution open 24x7 which will make engineering graduates more imaginative and creative, besides getting basic training in 21st-century skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, research, collaboration, communication, lifelong learning, etc. The idea lab aims at developing critical thinking & complex problem-solving abilities among the students of the institute. The lab will also provide support to schools, polytechnic colleges, and engineering colleges in the vicinity.The lab will be mainly managed by students who will be responsible for the overall implementation of the project. Trainings, boot camps, internships, and professional training programs will be organized throughout the year for faculty and students.
