I support voluntary groups involved in the health and wellbeing agenda in Powys, as well as enabling third sector organisations to engage with statutory bodies so that their voice is heard and their views taken into consideration when changes are made. My work involves organising and attending meetings between community organisations and the Powys Teaching Health Board, Welsh Government, the Community Health Council and Powys County Council. Current projects include: bringing together those involved in mental health initiatives with farmers; organising twice yearly Dementia Network meetings with third sector organisations supporting those living with dementia; and writing a report on the "value added" by mental health charities in Powys commissioned by PTHB and Powys CC. I am the director and only member of staff at Veritasse, which is a company that works with Christian artists to show and sell their original artwork and to produce their artwork as greetings cards and prints. I want to allow God to speak through artwork, in a way which strengthens and encourages believers and challenges non-believers, bringing them through to a deeper understanding of God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Veritasse champions the use of the arts within churches and Christian settings. In our visually focused world, we need to make use of every means at our disposal to share God’s love. Show less

I can now see how God has led and encouraged me into a position where I was able to take on the challenge of leading Veritasse. I started painting when I was 38 and a full time primary teacher. A friend at church introduced me to Veritasse through a magazine and through an incredible sequence of events, I found myself working for Veritasse part time for 4 and a half years. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Aidan, my previous boss, who communicated his tremendous passion for Christian artwork and his desire to see churches using pictures to communicate scriptural truths. I took over as director in 2011. Show less

I am a visual artist painting in both oils and acrylics. My work is usually based on landscapes and nature or is related to my Christian faith. I enjoy colours and see my work as mainly joyful and positive. I also enjoy creating artwork in other mediums, and have revisited willow withy lanterns for Christmas 2020. I worked part time for Keep Wales Tidy, liaising with community groups and individuals who want to make a difference to the environment where they live. I supported groups creating community gardens, protecting rivers, doing litter picks, tackling dog fouling and graffiti, keeping rights of way open, improving biodiversity and tackling invasive weeds. It was a great job, meeting lots of different and dedicated people.
