Working in Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that handles various cases such as: Preterms from 24 weeks, Respiratory distress syndrome, Meconium aspiration syndrome, Intra ventricular hemorrhage, Diaphragmatic hernia, Hyperbilirubinemia with exchange transfusions, Pneumothorax, Congenital heart diseases such as ASD, VSD & Tetralogy of Fallot. Care Provided: Nursing care to premature infants with serious birth defects and life‐threatening conditions. Basic as well as advanced infant care such as vital signs, accurate documentation/charting, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), administration of intravenous (IV) fluids, giving of specialized feedings and management of ventilators. Evaluate and oversee patients in the NICU and report to supervisors any changes in condition. Maintain and calibrate NICU equipment for patient safety and support. Administer medications as prescribed by attending NICU physician and perform accurate drug dose calculations. Connect intravenous lines to administer medication and extract samples. Communicate with parents/guardians the plan of care and scope of treatment. Obtain and evaluate test results. Consult with physicians and other nurses on plan of care, progress and prognosis.
