I'd been in touch with Stuart for a few years via Twitter and social media and appreciated his commitment to sharing fundraising expertise and advice via those channels. I first met him when he chaired and organised the 2011 Institute of Fundraising Scotland, at which he had gathered an excellent and diverse range of speakers. Stuart's early recognition of the value of digital and social media channels, willingness to test and learn from them, and his focus on building up his colleagues' skills in this area demonstrate to me his value as a senior fundraiser. He has always been supportive, collaborative and a pleasure to work with.

Stuart invited me to present at the Institute of Fundraising Scotland conference 2011 when he chaired the organising committee. He pulled together a great conference and was the perfect host. He himself is an engaging presenter and spoke excellently about developments in social media and the relevance to fundraisers at the same event.

The Institute of Chartered Foresters champions excellence in forestry and arboriculture, and supports the ongoing development of a competent, innovative and forward-looking profession. The Institute is the only professional body in the UK that can award the title of Chartered Forester and Chartered Arboriculturist. In my role, I am responsible for the strategic development of member services, stewardship and professional development; and on a good day, I get to spend time in a forest.

The aim was simple - build South Lanarkshire's first in-patient palliative care hospice. I was responsible for the creation, implementation, monitoring and strategic development of all aspects of fundraising within Kilbryde Hospice. I produced Kilbryde Hospice's first ever Fundraising Strategy, a five year strategy aimed at diversifying the fundraising streams and increasing the income four-fold.I installed Kilbryde Hospice's first ever contact management database; and created more than 2,500 donor's records in less than 12 months. As the sole fundraiser I established a robust and professional fundraising infrastructure in Kilbryde Hospice and doubled community fundraising income in two years. At the same time I produced in excess of 200 Trust and Foundation funding applications (totalling more than £2 million). In addition I recruited and stewarded seven corporate partnerships and was instrumental in securing two recurring six-figure pledges from two High Net Worth Individuals for Kilbryde Hospice.
