This was a temporary contract whose main task was to update the product catalogue and create four shorter catalogues in German, French, Russian & Japanese using Adobe CS5. This involved: - Preparing text for translators, then setting foreign text into pages using InDesign; - Extracting CAD drawings and data from SolidWorks; - Creating illustrations using Illustrator, photographing products and editing images in Photoshop. North Dorset District Council is an award-winning local authority. The Print and Design Officer provided design concepts for various publications, promotional material and exhibitions. Artwork was created on a PC using Adobe CS5 (InDesign for page layouts; Illustrator for logos, diagrams, illustrations; Photoshop for editing and creating images). Job briefs were received directly from clients (staff, councillors and the public). Responsibilities included running and maintaining the on-site digital printers/copiers, liaising with commercial printers & copier engineers, writing reports for SMT, proofreading, maintaining a photographic and illustration library, recording and entering data. AIM Aviation manufactures and fits interiors for fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. The Technical Publications Department worked on AMMs, CMMs and IPCs for SAAB 2000, Westland EH101 Merlin and RAF VC-10. Illustrations of components (assembled, exploded and cut-away) were produced for technical handbooks. I worked on a drawing board working from engineering drawings or the objects themselves. These were annotated on a workstation using Interleaf 5. The publication standards were ATA100 for civil and AvP70 for defence. Produced illustrations (assembled, exploded and cut-away) of aircraft control systems, undercarriage and air conditioning. The majority of work comprised illustrations of air valves for Airbus A330/340 and hydraulic components for the Eurofighter Typhoon nose landing gear.
