Launched in 2002 with seed funding from Scottish Enterprise and representing over a million learners, the eLearning Alliance (eLA) represents the global elearning community. We are the only membership organisation in the UK promoting an integrated approach to elearning across all sectors.As well as being a significant training provider in Scotland, we establish, support and coordinate sectoral Specialist Interest Groups (SIG's); currently for:• Community Learning & Development • Further / Higher Education• NHS • Local Authorities• Suppliers / Service ProvidersThe purpose of the SIGs is to effectively share experience, practice & resources.---Having been involved with the Alliance since 2005, I now lead a Board comprised of elected members, with the aim of growing our integrated model, building our membership and increasing the range of both live and virtual events we provide. This involves providing the leadership and direction to assist the Board with the development and delivery of the strategy and plans. The role also involves actively engaging with the Government, enterprise and the wider community to seek and capitalise on opportunities whilst raising the awareness of technologies in supporting our learners, our communities, our health and economic prosperity.--Personal Highlights--• Formation of the 'SuperSIG'; bringing the Chairs / Vice Chairs of each SIG together. • Collectively delivering highly-successful community events with cross-cutting themes.• Proposal for Lifelong Learning Partnership KA3 ICT multilateral networks European funding• Contribution to the Foundation for Science & Technologies' 'Digital Scotland Report'.• Development of the 'Technology Playpen' and eLA websites• Consulting with the Scottish Government on their 'Technologies for Learning' strategy.• Establishing the Community Learning & Development SIG with Education Scotland.• Working with the Board to develop new business models and opportunities.
