My duties in this role consisted mainly of order picking, checking and packing for customers throughout Europe, stock booking in upon arrival(following a quality check procedure) and entering onto a live stock rotation system, and decanting of various soldering fluxes into smaller, different sized drums as per request of customers. As there are hazardous substances being dealt with on a daily basis, a clean, safe working environment and ability to adhere to health and safety protocols are essential. The business stock and sell a range of different products ranging from solder bar and wire, to paste and a range of different flux fluids, some of which are limited quantities and are either flammable, corrosive or both, and have differing requirements for storage and shipping to our customers. After a period with the company i was given more responsibilities within my role including scheduling deliveries and collections with other companies and delivery of high value items to our key account customers. I was responsible for daily visual checks of company vehicles, and maintenance checks for our reach truck. I also assisted with weekly checks of our fire and safety alarm systems and was made aware of the correct steps for the maintenance of the industrial refrigerator used for our temperature sensitive products. As I have progressed through the company I have been given an alarm code and fob as well keys for the building, and in the absence of the Warehouse manager, I am responsible for opening the building for the start of a shift and alarming and securing the building in the evening.

Duties in this position consist of mostly till work and stock replenishment. Ambient stock is just replenishes straight from the pallet. Chilled and frozen stock requires temperature control and monitoring measures to ensure the quality of the products, and stock needs rotating so the products with the shorter date are on the top or front of the shelf or freezer space.Other aspects of the job are to maintain an acceptable standard of cleanliness of the building, baking certain products to be put on sale and assisting customers with any enquiries or complaints they may have

Also when required I move stock to the promotional or prime sales spots on shop floor, and also spend portions of the day assisting in stock replenishment and putting customer returns back in stock I also help the picking team when they are short or there is a high pick load. I was trained on the cardboard bailer in both emptying and re-stringing, and also help with date and space checks.

I had several roles within the DC, ranging from stock replenishment to painting the route markings around the warehouse floor. I spent time on varying shifts in my years with the company. I spent time making the work area safe, and cleaning up any spills or breakages that may have occurred, so that picking could be resumed as quickly and safely as possible. I was temporarily part of the stock control team on the floor, making sure any stock bays were free of obstruction so that pallets could roll to the front of each bay when required, and was also harness trained to enable me to enter the racking areas higher up to free any blockage or fallen/damaged stock. I spent the majority of my employment picking stock for external orders to be distributed across the UK, making attention to detail, and certain care and different practices a necessity
