Upon my return from the UK, I continued on from my previous employment with Mitton Electronet, providing professional engineering advice and expertise. This included regaining previous client relationships for further ongoing work, and further building my knowledge in power network earthing systems. My current roles include; > Performing on site earth auditing and EMF testing on clients assets. > Designing electrical engineering systems in accordance within good industry practice. > Performing Fault level, Earthing, Lightning Protection, Electromagnetic Induction and Arc Flash analysis studies. > Modelling of engineering parameters such as 3 phase and phase-to-earth fault levels in MATLAB and DIgSILENT. > Modelling of earthing systems in CDEGS RESAP and MALZ software packages, with respects to EPR, Touch & Step Voltages and Soil Resistivity. > Modelling of overhead lines and metallic pipelines in CDEGS HIFREQ software package, with respects to Induced/Transferred Voltages, Touch & Step Voltages and Coating GPR. > Liaising with draughting team for the production of design drawings.

During my time at Milton Electronet, I was providing professional engineering advice and expertise. To give the best advice, I kept up-to-date with technical developments which allowed me to provide innovative solutions to customer needs within the bounds of prudent risk management. It was vital that I understood all client requirements, and was able to successfully maintain client expectations in all projects from start to finish, in regards to key deliverables, time frames and budgets. In addition to the above, I also: > Carried out on site earth test auditing and EMF testing on clients assets. > Carried out electrical engineering design in accordance within good industry practice. > Carried out Fault level, Earthing, Lightning Protection, Electromagnetic Induction and Arc Flash analysis studies. > Liaised with draughting team for the production of design drawings.

During the November to February Christmas holidays break I was employed by Electronet Services in conjunction with completing my professional and practical Engineering hours. Electronet Services is a reasonably sized distribution and electrical services company based in Greymouth, whose role is to maintain the power network throughout the West Coast. During these periods, I worked with the Test Room, Transformer Workshop, Surveyors, Asset Management and alongside Electrical Engineers. This work experience enabled me to see firsthand, the various maintenance and upgrade projects needed to sustain power to the West Coast. Overall my assortment of jobs included: > fault analysis > load analysis for the Asset Management Plan > assessment of the lightning protection in substations > transformer reconditioning and testing > relay testing and installation > updates to the SEL relay database > surveying new line pole placements.
