Within this role I act as engineering controller and planning manager to a fleet of aircraft and circa 70+ multi-faceted engineering technicians, advising to senior executives on all matters pertaining to Business Continuity, Emergency Planning and sustainment criteria of engineering and aviation assets across a busy RAF Units; managing in excess of £400M worth of equipment, staff and resources. Adept at, and accountable for the provision of planning advice and output to ensure organisational KPIs and aims are achieved regularly. Ever striving for efficiency and continuing at the forefront of innovative processes, I am responsible for liaising directly with various stakeholders and industry leaders to maintain positive relationships in the development of engineering systems and subsequent revisions to policies as required. As a senior figure within my department, I often attend regular meetings with key organisation executives, meaning I am able to influence decisions and report on quality outcomes directly to make impact to operational output and business continuity. An Engineering Planning Manager I cover all aspect of aviation maintenance and deep strip rectification works on 12 Hercules aircraft, responsible for circa 70 engineers; and utilising specific data capture software, which provides significant lifing information and resource availability to allow me to plan all activities. Within this role it has been necessary to establish modification/efficiency programmes within the department to encompass the ever-changing customer need. This has seen me become more aware to LEAN Principles, Continuous Improvement, Human Factors and airworthiness of engineering assets. It has been essential for me to have oversight for multiple areas of responsibility, including other engineering trades, which covered weapons and avionics systems. Within this role I was responsible for all ensuring maintenance carried out is done so with airworthiness and safety at the forefront of technicians’ minds. I provide legal certification for a wide array of activities, all within a MAOS 145 environment. My skills and expertise are used to great advantage when fault diagnosis is required on in-depth systems, with all work being independently checked and signed off to the highest of standards. I managed a multi-faceted engineering team (20 staff) responsible for supervising the maintenance of fixed wing aircraft and associated aviation assets to a high standard. Capable of fault diagnosis, rectification, preventative and scheduled maintenance often involving Test Equipment and Specialised Test Sets, along with an ability to manage complex and diverse programmes for single or multiple stakeholders, addressing procedure compliance and providing leadership to internal and external clients. Not only involved in engineering matters, but I am adept at developing and maintaining internal audit and inspection regimes, analysing business needs and continuity strategies whilst remaining aware of emerging platforms and talents within a continuous improvement culture. I have been able to show flexibility and adaptability of working within an accredited quality organisation; trained against ISO 9001:2015 standards providing value added benefit during the management of any project.
