Loxam Group is the largest equipment rental company in europe, based in Paris. Loxam’s divisions specialise in the hire of general plant & machinery, powered access, heavy generation equipment and modular buildings. They also offer a specialist event management service. In 2000 Loxam Access entered the UK & Irish markets via acquisition with 4 branches in Ireland (HQ in UK.) Initially appointed as Branch Manager for the Dublin depot (14 staff), I had overall responsibility for the profitable operation of the depot’s day-to-day rental activities to include field sales, sales management, P & L, operations, admin., site, HSE, HR and quality (ISO9001). After 9 months I was appointed General Manager for Ireland and given responsibility for the Irish network (4 depots) and set up the Head Office for Loxam (Ireland) as stand alone subsidiary, establishing and assuming responsibility for a new company budget. Expanding the business significantly, I oversaw the opening of a second depot in Dublin 2007. Show less

The Belfast-based Larsen group of companies offers specialist products and services to the construction and related industries. Larsen Contracts offers services in concrete repair, specialist industrial coatings and flooring. I was appointed as Project Manager for the Ballymun façade remedials project (sponsored by Dublin City Council) which required the application of specialist chemical waterproofing system to a large number of high rise buildings inhabited by council tenants. This very challenging project lacked of any formal work site area being permitted and therefore required mobile, secure work areas to be setup within busy public areas at each location daily, tracking work as it progressed. Challenges included maintaining public and site safety whilst working at height, difficulites of staff and equipment security whilst operating in a socially deprived locality and transportation/storage of heavy equipment in a busy town centre location whilst maintaining a program of ‘dry’ outdoor works in inclement weather conditions. The work was completed using 11 teams working from suspended cradles and ‘cherry pickers.’ I had overall responsibility for program management, job allocation, resource allocation, quality control, supply chain, H & S, recruitment and training. I also liased with all stakeholder groups throughout the project regularly reporting to sponsors, consultants, directors and residential groups. Show less
