      I started RVS in November 2009 to provide independent, transparent & validated rates and curves to the financial markets globally. The RVS service provides an authoritative benchmark price/rate for all trading book assets and liabilities across all asset classes. Each benchmark is provided at multiple points during the 24 -hour day “following the sun”, at the close of each significant financial centre and with an advanced correlation ‘overlay’ for specific products where necessary or desirable. Each Bank’s rate/price contribution to the service is validated automatically and any exceptions reported back to the bank, saving time and effort both in the collection and validation of their data. RVS offers three products - Creator, a cloud based service providing consensus indices using evidential trade data; Administrator, a calculation and surveillance system for Benchmark Administrators; Submitter, a service to allow a bank to collect data including transactions and expert judgement to impute a benchmark or indice, with full audit trail and rules engine for governance. The RVS service brings immense value to our clients. It has the capacity to provide significant cost reductions across many areas of a bank’s operations. Our target markets were mining companies, chemical companies and gas pipelines project companies. We enhanced the balance sheet using insurances underwritten by the global reinsurance market, which would in-turn would allow us to create a AAA guarantee, which would permit Macquarie Bank to create a bond issue to raise the necessary capital for the project. We were in final due diligence with a mining company, having brought 10 Reinsurance companies led by Berkshire Hathaway brokered by Benfield Grieg, when the 9/11 terrorist attack stopped everything. We decided to wind up as there was no way known when the insurance markets would become receptive to this again.
