Stevie was a classmate of mine at General Assembly, and beyond that, I feel that she was actually a vital part of my education. I was lucky enough to have her as a part of a small collaboration and support group in our coursework, and that group was as much a part of what made me a dev as any specific unit at GA. When Stevie and I were working on our capstone projects, I hit a snag in the process that required me to scrap and rewrite a significant amount of code. In a major project final, I felt such frustration, and disappointment. Stevie took time out of her own work process to help me feel my feet underneath me, without compromising her own work. I believe my work came in stronger, and with better polish, because of her ability to see me as a teammate to be helped, instead of a competitor to be defeated. Outside of her ability to cheerlead, her knowledge and her willingness to develop her skills were a source of constant amazement to me. And not only me--in her final project, our instructor specifically pointed out things she had done that were far beyond the scope of our course. She took outside learning and applied it to the project needs, because she saw what could be done, without needing a blueprint, or to have her hand held. Even at the time, I was in awe of the way she chased understanding, and my work in the field has only cemented that belief. Stevie is the sort of person I would be looking for on my team: Self-starting, openhandedly generous with her thoughts and her time, creative and relentless in her seeking of answers. Really, my only regret about Stevie is that my company doesn’t hire in her state.

As a former teammate from General Assembly, Stevie is a talented software engineer who demonstrates both leadership and innovation in each project she undertakes. Her adaptability and eagerness to learn truly made her a pleasure to work with. During the coding process she is both resourceful and attentive to detail. Her ability to articulate ideas cohesively will make her a great asset to any development team!
