I worked alongside Steve while he helped at the NHS and had a chance to see how infectious (in a good way) his Scrum coaching is. He shared his ideas and thoughts openly with me and the team regularly and opened my eyes to some dysfunctions and behaviours that hold Scrum teams back that I wasn't even aware were there. I went on to push my learning about the Scrum Master role further with Steve in one of his training events and passed my PSM 2 soon after. Since then, I've benefitted not only from his support during the Leeds Scrum Master Retros (which are great) but also from his support helping connect with people for new roles in Leeds. That's a lot of good stuff that Steve has done right ?!! so this is me saying a long overdue and public thank you :) ...oh and if you do get a chance to train with Steve..do it!

Steve is a great Professional Scrum Master (PSMI) course trainer, the content materials, location and timings were all great, but what really gave value-add was Steve’s personal experiences of using SCRUM and what had worked well and not so well for him over the years. He's such a personable guy and everyone on the course was encouraged to share their experiences too which really brought the course to life and made it a memorable one.

Scrum Master | .Net Developer
-
Oct 2014 - Nov 2015
Part of a highly proficient & dedicated .Net Scrum Team; focused on delivering a hugely scalable and feature rich set of APIs in Microsoft Azure. Built upon key Azure features in order to manage tens of millions of concurrent users posting images, video & searching for friends within the Fansz ecosystem. (30 million concurrent users was achieved due to the architecture implemented.) As Scrum Master & Tech Architect I helped to implement design patterns that ensured a high availability and rapid response from the supporting APIs; delivered using Scrum methodology. Liaising with the Product Owner to ensure the team were developing the right things for the business at the right time. One of the key decision makers in helping to recruit the Technical team required (permanent employees and contractors) to build the application; in doing so reviewed cvs & conducted interviews (technical & soft skills). Implemented the working practices and build standards for the team in order to deliver production ready software at the end of each sprint.

My role involved developing .Net applications whilst performing the responsibilities of a Technical Architect. The applications designed employed techniques and development patterns to ensure the scalability and robustness of the system. The projects undertaken followed an Agile approach, using Scrum methodology whilst the actual development is performed via Test Driven Development (TDD) thus ensuring the code is testable. I have worked on numerous successful projects in a variety of size of teams. Whilst at Sky I have developed web sites and applications for internal clients such as SkyBet and various premiership football teams including websites for Arsenal, Chelsea FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC and Manchester City. I was the Technical Architect & Lead Developer for Super6 and many other great features on the sites.
