I first became acquainted with Steve in 2007 when he was hired as IT System Administrator for David M. Schwarz Architects, where I served as one of the office's architectural designers. Steve was constantly troubleshooting and responding to requests from the architectural and administrative staff, often solving problems specific to our personal desktop computers or print jobs. One important device that Steve implemented was a Help Desk in which the architectural staff could send non-urgent requests via email so that he could track them. Steve was able to solve problems related to the network, server, various printers and plotters, as well as issues pertaining to telephone equipment, Deltek accounting software, and installation of various other software used by the firm. Steve was also able to advise on use of the audio-visual equipment in the office to visitors giving presentations in our office. Steve regularly engaged on a personal level with the architectural designers, coming to birthday celebrations and socializing at happy hours. Steve also contributed to the company outreach activities by participating in events such as Gingertown. While working at the David M. Schwarz Architects office, Steve juggled his final college classes and earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Networking. Though he would often be busy with classes and similar important personal engagements outside our office, Steve kindly answered calls on his cell phone and came in on nights and weekends as help was needed. From the perspective of someone on the recipient end of Steve's assistance, I can attest that he is pleasantly responsive to the steady stream of issues that arise as an unavoidable part of our increasingly digitalized lives.
