Steve is one of those people who really helped me model what I strive for in a leader. He simultaneously balances the goals of the business and your well-being as a human being. I haven't had any bosses that were as compassionate and understanding as Steve, in times before the Covid Pandemic and during it. Someone who is really on your side because they know that in order for them to look good you need to be functioning well professionally and personally. Your struggles are his struggles and he has done a fantastic job running the interference and dealing with the organizational politics so you don't have to. While those are the soft skills that I really value most in a leader, someone who I know has my back and fights for me, Steve also has a very well-rounded repertoire of technology knowledge, everything from IT infrastructure and network operations to software development processes and technologies. It was always a pleasure to collaborate with Steve on projects as he was always very invested in the work, both on the technological side and doing all the necessary communication and collaboration work required to get others invested as well.
