While working for P&H Crimson became strategic partners and I was TUPE'd to Crimson with another P&H colleague. I continued to work in a similar capacity to before, utilising existing business and system knowledge but also taking on new subject areas. Additionally I became part of a 4 strong team sharing 24/7 out of hours support of P&H's critical ADAM systems. From the outset we built a knowledge base and quickly and dramatically reduced escalations and resolved issues ourselves. My first major project at P&H was to build a Customer Services System to replace the antiquated paper based system. This required liaising with several key managers around the country to analyse the current varying practices and requirements and define a single process that could be adopted by all 13 Customer Service departments. I was solely responsible for designing and building the application, rolling it out and supporting it with various enhancements and new functionality . It brought huge savings in time and money and a lot of happiness to the many users by making their job easier.Another major project was the adoption of a character recognition system from a third party to facilitate improvements in the purchase to pay cycle. This required analyzing the existing complex process and legacy system that allowed stock to be ordered, received and then matched with the subsequent invoice(s) such that interfaces could be built to and from the new character recognition system. As sole developer I built the legacy side in parallel with the third party and was responsible for unit and system testing and ongoing enhancements and support. The project was a major success and a huge improvement to the purchase to pay cycle for suppliers and working staff.I worked on a various other projects which were often time critical and I rose to the challenge to produce quality deliverables within schedule. Incident and change management were brought in using Sostenuto and I was a strong advocate and contributed to the standards and processes employed. These were successfully rolled out and bedded in across the whole IT department.

I worked as a key team member on a Tandem COBOL/SQL high profile mandatory new CHAPS project. Writing test plans, coding and testing with adherence to quality, learning SWIFT messaging rules and subsystem integration testing while identifying and resolving faults. The project was a success and delivered on time. I worked as a key team member on a Tandem COBOL/SQL high profile mandatory new CHAPS project. As lead technical designer I mapped and developed the interface from the legacy Tandem system to a new NT platform to handle high volume throughput. Built utilising MQ Series, supported and integration tested, the interface was a great success.I performed a key role in numerous projects including Y2K , developing many new and enhanced programs while providing support and time critical problem solving.I also successfully implemented source control and effective project procedures to improve working practices for the whole development team.

My first task was to rewrite an aging COBOL batch control subsystem core to the working business which I successfully completed ahead of schedule.I produced various quality batch and on-line COBOL/SQL code enhancements and became heavily involved in improving SQL performance and resolving concurrency issues. I joined Syntegra (Telecom ACT at that time) as a junior programmer and spent 3 months training in team building, analysis techniques including SSADM, QA, structured programming, COBOL, CICS, JCL and DB2. The training was excellent and I quickly became utilised in a team working on major billable projects.I was contracted out for a year to work at British Telecom in London where I employed my DB2 and database skills on a Case Tools integration project to support a hybrid structured methodology. On return I embarked on several Tandem/SQL training courses and moved on to the highly successful BT Chargecard project which I provided time critical out of hours support.
