At the Learning Factor, we strive to bring the real world to the classroom. Our goal is to aid students in a wide variety of manufacturing processes including: Woodworking, Metal Fabrication and Welding, Precision Machining, and Additive Manufacturing. We want to foster a safe space for students to apply the knowledge they gain from the classroom into projects that can be the capstone for their education. As one of the adult supervisors in the Learning Factory, I aid the students in their transition from classroom to real-world, through a wide variety of "capstone" projects. We are also a maker space, where students and faculty, can come to make just about anything. In addition to aiding students with projects, we are also responsible for running safety trainings, operating, maintaining, and repairing the equipment, and monitoring inventory. We also hire students to aid with the shop operations. We also run build nights at the Learning Factory. These nights are open to all Penn State Students and Faculty. These nights are to bring in a wide variety of people into the Learning Factory giving them an introduction to the facilities with a small project that each individual can make and take home with them the same night. My personal goals here are to pass on the knowledge that I have gained over the years, to aid students and faculty in the production of parts for projects, maintain safety in the shop environment, and to continue my growth in the field of machining and engineering.

Owner/Operator

Aug 2018 - Present
I am the owner and operator at Aegis Ironworks. We are a small Precision Machine Shop focusing in rapid prototyping, manual milling, manual turning, and manual linear surface grinding. We are constantly expanding our capabilities in both machine equipment, material knowledge, engineering and design, and metrology. As owner and operator, I am involved in both the manufacturing side of the business as well as the entrepreneurial side of small business management. Our main goal is for our clients to be happy with the products or components they receive, as well as progression of our inhouse knowledge base so we can continue to grow into a leader in local small business manufacturing.
