I started my own consultancy business in 2009 working with a key MoD supplier to produce Safety Cases for non-nuclear hazard areas including High Explosive and industrial chemical facilities. I was responsible for managing and running HAZIDs, agreeing the sentencing and assessment of hazards with the client and the production of detailed Safety Case Reports to meet appropriate deadlines. I also worked extensively with the MoD Commercially Supported Shipping Project Team where I developed and produced Safety and Environmental Case Reports for all of the (8) current Royal Fleet Auxiliary classes of ship still in service. This project has been recognised for its high standards by the award of a Chief of Defence Materiel Commendation in May 2012. Other key projects include the review, update and consolidation of ship class hazard logs and the production of numerous Equipment Safety Cases on behalf of MoD Defence Engineering and Support Teams.
