I knew the minute I saw Steven Martinez’s interview video, he was the guy for the job. I hired him for the Office Manager position at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. He not only showed his love for the job, he has incredible people and customer service skills. He was the face of the office, the first person our clients see when they come into the office. He is punctual, but more often than not, he arrived at the office early with a smile on his face and was extremely helpful to anyone that came through the doors. Steven is very detailed-oriented. He also took initiative to make sure the office was taken care of, whether it was ordering office supplies or keeping the refrigerator stocked. He always researched for the best prices and tried to save the company money when possible. He shared his ideas to make the office a better place to work and then followed through on those ideas. He thinks outside the box and will do whatever it takes to get the job done. Steven is a real team player. He always stepped up and helped his co-workers out when needed. He has great leadership skills and works well on his own without being micro-managed. We trusted him with a company purchase card and submitted his expense reports timely. He follows up when necessary. If I was out of the office, I never once worried he couldn’t take care of any issue that would arise. He spoiled our office and any company would be lucky to have him. With his leadership skills, I know he will succeed in any environment.

While Steven was only with HMH as our Office Manager in NYC for several months, his contributions were nothing short of remarkable during that time. From the minute he joined, he immediately sought to turn our offices into a second home and did so with enthusiasm and amazing attention to detail. Whether it was the creative signage he created to aid visitors, or the care he took in ensuring gathering areas were clean and had amenities that would rival five star hotels, he approached all tasks enthusiastically and with great joy putting a smile on everyone's face each and every day. Steven also used his incredibly creative communication skills to effectively communicate office related matters across the business unit. He was always eager to take over new responsibilities and truly proved to be an asset not only to the company, but to each one of us individually. He made it a pleasure to walk through the elevator door each and every day!
