  I manage a depot and waste transfer station of a large skip company in Nottinghamshire. My responsibilities include managing the workforce of 30 people, monitoring the health and safety and wellbeing of those on-site, and the safety of the public that enters our sites. My duties are varied running a busy site, but my main duties are Health and Safety and ensuring that the site is compliant with the letter of the law. My daily duties would include, site inspections, compliance, risk assessments, and Safe systems of work. I also work on any accreditations that we work towards (CHAS). Colson Transport also have three other Depots, in Nottingham and Derby, which I am responsible for, with regards to there Health and safety, and keeping them compliant.I also work with one of our Directors helping with environmental issues and will be myself working toward some form of environmental accreditation in the very near future.

  I joined Balfour Beatty in June 2006 as an HGV driver working on overhead lines, after a few years’ experience as a driver, I was promoted to driver 1. Over the next few years, it was noted that I had a good working knowledge of the machinery and plant on the overhead lines. I was then promoted to senior plant operator within my gang where eventually I was running a machine site and responsible for all its safety and making sure that the site was compliant regarding risk assessments, method statements, and any environmental concerns. I was responsible for the winch site at Denny/Beauly overhead lines contract in 2011-2015.
