My overarching goal is to assist physicians in achieving… Show more Primary Focus: My responsibilities include strategic leadership, education and policy initiatives which facilitate Massachusetts Hospital Association (MHA) members’ transitions in meeting key health delivery reform imperatives at the federal and state levels, with a focus on physician relationships. I provide guidance and assistance to hospital employed physicians and select organized physician groups, which are MHA members. My overarching goal is to assist physicians in achieving higher levels of operational efficiency, provider integration, patient safety, satisfaction and quality performance, including utilization management and coordination of care. I specifically oversee the Physician/Hospital Integration Collaborative (PHIC) and the Physician Leadership Council (PLC), coordinating efforts with MHA staff on related technical and policy matters. In addition, I contribute the physician perspective to assist with MHA goals/activities related to clinical issues, including but not limited to quality of care, patient safety, public health information and health information technology. This includes assistance to other MHA staff to work with hospitals, regulators and legislators to develop and review statutes and laws related to various aspects of healthcare. As a result of these activities I help contribute to a strong public presence for MHA, by serving as its lead representative and spokesperson on physician-related issues. Task Force Leadership: I participate and help lead active MHA task forces, such as our Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Prevention Task Force and our Advanced Practice Registered Nurse task force, with an eye towards consensus building on clinical and physician related issues. I also serve on the Massachusetts Medical Society's Opioid Task Force. I also focus on MHA partnerships and outreach, education, representation and advocacy.
