I am responsible for screening patients, obtaining past medical history and performing preliminary vision testing. I also educate patients on using their contact lenses properly and perform fluorescein angiographies with patients, which entails setting up an IV line and injecting dye before taking pictures of the retina. I perform multiple ophthalmic tests, including visual fields, tonometry and Optomap, OCT, HRT and Kowa imaging. I assist the doctor as a scribe as well as prepare sterile trays prior to injections. At Mednet I was responsible for enrolling new patients in our program, assisting them with using their heart monitors and collecting data from said monitors. Once I had collected the data onto my computer I was also responsible for separating the EKG into different readings and analyzing them to check for any irregularities, such as atrial or ventricular fibrillation.
