Stephen acted as my line manager when I started at Arenko as a Cyber Security Engineer. He did a really good job of helping me settle into the role, and making sure that expectations of me were clear. Unfortunately a few months after starting I experienced several serious disruptions in my personal life (including the death of a parent). After this project, my role evolved to manage agile software/process development and business change initiatives for the test, development and manufacturing departments on projects such as: • Setting up a test, research and development, and prototyping lab with associated office space and development lab, for the use of a combined software development, prototyping, testing and QA team. • Increasing throughput of complex circuit boards from 20 per week to 150 per week (750%) by implementing control and data analysis software along with improved test procedures. • Enabling prioritisation of test and assembly tasks, and allocation of resources, with 360-degree feedback to the company ERP system by implementing software solutions and database workflow improvements. • Integrating software solutions with automated test systems to allow repeatable and controlled testing of development and deliverable products, including creating associated test procedures and processes. • Implementing software and database based improvements to the workflow for task specification, regulatory compliance and resource allocation for research and development projects. Some of the project / project areas that I managed are outlined below• Setting up and running a TV Interference / Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) service line to enable customers to meet planning requirements for new construction builds.• Assembling management plans for customers in the built environment sector to allow them to plan mitigation against potential EMC impacts.• Performing EMC assessments of buildings and infrastructure such as railway control rooms, substations, signaling systems, mobile phone base stations and data centres at sites in major cities in Europe, America and the Far East, which allowed the operators / developers to understand and mitigate against potential impacts to IT, power and communication systems.• Improving the accuracy and repeatability of aircraft flight safety testing, as well as reducing the time taken for on-site testing and report preparation which in turn reduced costs and gave the customer instant sight of the results by writing automated test software.• Performing radiation hazard measurements to determine the potential for hazards to human health.The role encompassed both project management and project work activities.
