I was one of 2 architects responsible for the system design, architecture and roadmap for this dynamic business card and personal identity company, with an engineering team of 30 people. I was particularly focused on data design, e-commerce, and operational aspects (shopping, checkout, pricing, payments, user management, print management). I got involved in initial project scoping and estimation, and helped define the infrastructure roadmap. I spent half my time on infrastructure development, rewriting core parts of the system to steer the software towards a service-orientated structure. We followed SCRUM for the engineering teams, with embedded product managers. The technology stack was PHP front-end with an increasing number of Java back-end services. Recent projects of note: Re-modelling and reimplementing the product data design and system in java Extending the pricing system to allow discounts based on a customers shopping cart contents, in a rules engine Writing a shopping cart service in Java, and re factoring the client code to use it as a service. Re modelling core data and code to allow internationalization of the website Show less
