We met Steve when we were invited to present at his Ultimate 911 Training Day in Ontario. Right from the beginning you could see that Steve is incredibly passionate about 9-1-1 and training in general. I have found that the best people in an industry are those that are passionate about what they do. Steve is that guy. I would strongly recommend you attend one of his presentations. In fact, come to APCO Canada 2014 and see Steve and Nathan Lee present a joint session during the conference.

I had the opportunity to attend one of Steve VanDyk's 'Ultimate 911' Training Days last year and was grateful for such an enlightening experience. Steve coordinated and hosted a Training Day suited to mediate the 'side effects' of working in a policing environment. His focus was on the group dynamic of the Communications Unit while also promoting individual capabilites; eliciting a sense of pride and responsibility, with consideration to the tiny margin of error we must operate within. Steve was charismatic in sheding light on difficult issues so many dispatchers routinely deal with in both their work and personal lives. Steve's goal is apparently to assist in the longetivity of dispatching careers, and constructing our roles as professions and shared lifestyles. Steve was successful in humanizing a very calculated job, and the entire training day was a very humbling experience. I look forward to attending the next training day this coming October 7th in Hamilton. I wish Steve the best of luck in all his future endeavors and am confident he will excel in any training role.
