      Photography of the Apollo XIII 45th Anniversary and 2015 Astronaut Hall of Fame Galas. The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF) is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization established in 1984 by six surviving members of America's original Mercury astronauts. ASF aids the United States in retaining its world leadership in science and technology by providing scholarships to exceptional college students pursuing these degrees. ASF funds 19 $10,000 scholarships annually and has awarded $2.5 million to 226 students nationwide. More than seventy Gemini, Apollo, Skylab and Shuttle astronauts have since joined in this educational endeavor.
