  Competition and Consumer policy Led policy development and delivery of Government commitment to establish a Groceries Code Adjudicator to address large supermarket abuses. This included delivering responses to the key recommendations made by the competition authorities, developing policy against a difficult and shifting political backdrop (including a change of Government in May 2010), advising Ministers and Special Advisors and producing against a very tight timetable a consultation and consultation response on the key recommendation for a groceries adjudicator. Also produced advice on other recommendations including the introduction of a competition test in planning new supermarket developments and maintained oversight of work to implement the decision to revoke the Land Agreement Exclusion Order. Also handled a Private Members Bill on an Adjudicator. Led on Government response to competition market study into property searches and the commercial use of public information Monitored and reported on follow up actions. Led policy development on competition issues around the beer tie and pub companies, including responding to the Business Select Committee. Produced miscellaneous briefs, speeches, letters and answers to Parliamentary Questions for Ministers on competition related matters. Advised Government Ministers on their role and responsibilities on competition law. led on the preparation of guidance for Departments on the competition implications of policy proposals and what it is, and is not, appropriate to discuss with business. Led on Government responses to the competition authorities reports on miscellaneous competition matters. Worked with the OFT and the CC and other appropriate parties to ensure market compliant, study and investigation process operated to its maximum level. Maintained and improved OFT/CC engagement.
