After spending 23 years on the foundry floor, I have been able to fine tune my management approach in a way that aligns the needs of the team, the organization and our customers. At Dakota Foundry, we pride ourselves in having the fastest turnaround in the industry. Several factors have led to our success, but I have found the following to be my most effective contributions: • Managing all foundry operations and establishing priorities based on the production schedules. Including: melt, core & pattern making, iron pouring, molding, casting, ductile, cleaning and inspection • Promoting improvement initiatives and monitoring product quality, processes and performance levels to ensure products comply with company standards • Regularly reviewing staff utilization and recommending adjustments in labor force as well as scheduling to optimize melt performance and foundry production • Liaising with the leadership team to create new and innovative methods which will result in efficiency and productivity improvement within the foundry • Actively participating in the personal development of direct reports within the foundry/melt operation.
