Senior Geostatistician - Modelling and Resources
-
Feb 2020 - Present
I have been working on a project to characterize the lithium and helium prospectivity in Alberta. This includes finding and wrangling data from various sources including published work, old PDFs, and databases; placing the data into the proper geospatial context of x,y,z coordinates and geological units; and interpreting multivariate data to identify different flow regimes. I have also been working to coordinate a sampling program to gather more geochemical data from oilfield brines in Alberta to help characterize brine-hosted mineral resources.

Geostatistician - Geomodelling
-
Jun 2016 - Feb 2020
I focused on formation-scale 3D property models of important geological units in Alberta, primarily the Montney and Duvernay but also contributing to the Paskapoo, Cardium, Belly River, and Spirit River. The models include rock properties (shale volume, porosity), fluid properties (water saturation, gas-oil ratio), and reservoir properties (pressure and temperature gradient).

Geostatistician - Petroleum Systems and Earth Resources
-
Jun 2013 - Jun 2016
During this time I was part of a team that investigated potential geological origins of odours and emissions from oil sands development in the Peace River area. I also updated the resource estimates of the Montney and Duvernay formations and disseminated much of the work on shale resource modelling, including a methodology report and many presentations at conferences, workshops, and luncheons.

Geostatistician - Energy Resource Appraisal
-
Jan 2011 - Jun 2013
I modelled the shale and siltstone hosted hydrocarbon potential in Alberta. This work included the Duvernay, Montney, Exshaw, Muskwa, Banff, Nordegg, and Wilrich units. I designed and implemented an integrated modelling approach to account for the uncertainty in all of the input data and assumptions.
-
-
Geostatistician - Groundwater
-
Jan 2009 - Jan 2011
Working with the hydrogeologists and geologists at the AGS I created a model of the Paskapoo Formation for identification of hydrostratigraphic units. I also contributed to mapping for the Edmonton-Calgary corridor groundwater atlas. I modelled the bedrock topography surface over most of Alberta, incorporating a wide variety of data sources.

I carried out research on geostatistical modelling of facies for oil and gas reservoirs or mining operations. I wrote numerous research papers and presented at several conferences. I also consulted on a resource model of a large SAGD project in the Fort McMurray oil sands.
