Took a complex one-off private house in a woodland setting from planning approval to tender stage, including resolving issues relating to root protection of TPO trees. Led the design team in preparing regular presentations for a highly engaged private client, giving me first hand appreciation of the importance of building and maintaining client trust. Coordinated a small team of architectural staff on a large hotel refurbishment project. Attend site meetings on a number of large office projects on site, as well as pre-start meetings and DTMs for future projects. Gained exposure to different roles including project managers, quantity surveyors, engineers, facade consultants and the construction team. Further developed problem solving and leadership skills after being brought on board to bring a project back on track and resolve complex on-site queries. Amended and updated construction drawings as they developed from planning stage to include site constraints and post demolition information. Produced sections and envelope details to assist with coordination between the various sub-contractor designed packages, in addition to reviewing and commenting upon their designs and providing pragmatic feedback. Prepared documentation and samples for planning conditions. Coordinated offsite prefabricated masonry facade with onsite RC construction as well as rainscreen cladding, glazing and SFS designs. Assisted contractors and quantity surveyors with value engineering exercises and programme critical, detailed design changes. Amended design intent drawings to incorporate contractor-designed packages and produce finalised as-built drawings, improving my technical knowledge. Provided area schedules, lease plans and tenant/landlord demise plans for contract purposes at construction and post practical completion stages.

Worked independently on drawings and documents for a number of smaller planning applications. Produced and assisted with tender documents for a range of projects. Worked on detailed design and setting out drawings for larger schemes. Assisted with a number of major applications including my case study project, a mixed-use development in Brixton which included a retained, locally listed facade. Worked on Brownfield sites including a former Thames Water asset and a former petrol station. Conservation area work which included an area in Clapham consisting of 26 dilapidated Victorian terrace houses, 3 retail units and an empty plot bought from Lambeth by our client. Appointed directly by contractors for construction phase on projects, as well as being novated from client to contractor on others. Complex client/contractor appointments from planning through to construction.
