Bio
Kimball Lynn, CPCU
Steve and I started our insurance industry careers at the same company—Prudential Property and Casualty (PRUPAC)—and in the same Regional Underwriting Department. We maintained a close association throughout my sixteen years at PRUPAC, and kept in touch as Steve and I moved on to other companies in conjunction with the sale of PRUPAC by The Prudential. When I took over as Property Product Executive at CSAA Insurance Group in 2011, Steve was my first hire. He worked as a Product Manager in my organization and did an outstanding job of managing top line growth and bottom line profitability in several eastern region states. Steve was particularly adept at building partnerships with AAA club agencies, which was especially important in the relationship-centric business model at AAA. Later, I led CSAA’s underwriting operations. Steve reported to me as the Sr. Staff Underwriting Manager. In that role, Steve had a wide-ranging focus that included quality assurance; vendor and vendor program management; underwriting guideline creation and maintenance; and underwriting systems and process management. As a great underwriting technician who fully understands the far-reaching elements of the profitability equation, Steve effectively led a new organization and established that group as integral to CSAA’s ongoing success. I am now the Chief Underwriting Officer at Germania Insurance. Once again, my first hire was Steve. I brought him to Germania as an Underwriting Consultant to help us build and launch a comprehensive underwriting training program for new and existing employees. Steve has also served as the Underwriting Lead for a large-scale Guidewire transition project involving our re-designed Umbrella and Watercraft products. In addition, he has played a key role in our evaluation of property inspection vendor candidates, property inspection automation platforms, high value dwelling underwriting, and the binding moratorium process. We could not have made the progress we have made since January 2019 without Steve’s project and thought leadership. I recommend Steve Giullian without reservation as a leader and insurance professional who will make a positive difference in any organization.
