My wife and I hired Steve to erect a banister around our staircase, replace all the closet doors in our house and erect some shelving in the garage. He did a superb job all round, most impressive being the doors as it's an old house with every irregularity you can imagine. Steve also recommended a really inexpensive yet effective way of doing the shelving, and we're all the better for it. Nice to get something done way cheaper than you imagined it to be. For the bannister, he recommended a finishing store and took the time to help us choose a style of bannister that suited the house, then installed it quickly without defect. One thing that sets Steve apart for us, and especially with this job being in our private space, was how clean and tidy everything was at the end of the day; he made sure the work area was spotless. I only mention this because we've had quite a few experiences where the tradesperson left a big mess, so we really appreciated this. Steve was able to fit into our lives, rather than the other way round, so no loud music and no fuss. After the work on our house, my mother-in-law hired him to build a wood shed. Steve offered some really neat design ideas, did all the procurement and built what has to be termed a thing-of-beauty; it will no doubt stand the test of time (you can probably find a picture of it in his portfolio). Needless to say my mother-in-law was thrilled with it, and she's actively promoting his work too. Steve is the first person we turn to for jobs like these; he has great woodworking skill, is meticulous and a pleasure to work with. Of course, we highly recommend him.

During my time as a working foreman with Unique Restoration, I was responsible for the start to finish of projects. From organising my team between 1-10 employees, I would delegate daily tasks to ensure the job was completed on time, and within the budget. I would coordinate and schedule with sub trades at every stage of the project, ensuring their scope of work went as smooth as possible.I would hold weekly safety meetings, where I would encourage my crew to participate, and address any site hazards or conditions that I may have missed. Daily safety meetings were held when dealing with hazardous materials, such as moderate risk asbestos removal, lead removal etc.I would ensure all employees and sub trades were signed off on any job task procedures, and exposure control plans. It was my responsibility that these procedures were followed correctly for the safety of everyone involved with the project.I had hands on experience working with engineers from multiple firms, where I would participate in bi-monthly site meetings with my project manager. We would discuss progress of the job, keeping our substantial completion dates in mind, and any changes in site conditions, with solutions to these unknown site conditions.I am familiar with the months end of the project, and would ensure to get all paperwork in on time, and filled out accurately. This was especially important with monthly quantities, and any change orders that were completed. Show less
