Bio
C.C. Finlay
When I became the Editor of The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction in January 2015, Stephen had already been the Assistant Editor for five years. During my transition into the new role, I depended significantly on Stephen's knowledge, experience, and professionalism to bring me up to speed and keep things running smoothly. Over time his role evolved, and I appreciated his ability to grow and develop new skills. He helped me develop F&SF‘s social media presence, acted as a sounding board for selecting stories and putting issues, was always eager to generate ideas to promote and develop the magazine, and, when given the opportunity, served as an excellent ambassador for the magazine in person at conventions and virtually in online venues. Throughout the entire period, he was one of our main points of contact for authors, potential authors, and subscribers, and he communicated clearly and efficiently while building positive relationships. I appreciated his flexibility, attention to detail, and his ability to keep the bigger picture in mind while completing the often minute and very specific tasks that keep a magazine running on schedule.
Gordon Van Gelder
Since he joined our staff, Stephen has been a portrait of reliability and a great asset to the magazine. His great work ethic---not to mention his even temper and good sense of humor---are a real boon.
