As a sales manager during the economic crisis of the mid-2000’s, I helped refocus the core of the business away from a collapsing commercial market and, using an aggressive set of metrics and a new target, reduced inventory overhead, increased employee productivity, and showed steady growth in a struggling retail market. Relaunching into the commercial sector. I established Lanning Tire as a direct distributor for three major manufacturers, and ran point for our fleet account program, including enlistment, sales and retention of clients, and full administrative responsibility from cold call to sale to collection. I worked closely with national accounts, and negotiated contracts with state and local governments, public utilities, regional and national haulers, and local contractors. My managed fleet vehicle base now numbers in the thousands, with an above industry average monthly sales volume, sustained double digit increases in the last three years, and establishment of the commercial sales division as the major revenue source of the company.

Brought in to troubleshoot underperforming stores, I developed analytics, strategies and action plans that allowed for rapid transformation to profitability. This success led to an opportunity to move into and develop new markets, primarily the major metro area of Indianapolis, with a population over one million. I designed a training program that allowed for consistent performance that was ultimately adopted company-wide, managed a distribution network that a reliable supply chain for eight metro locations, and a grass roots marketing campaign that took the company from zero footprint to double digit market share in three years. I pushed for and led a high-performance aftermarket category, specializing in wheels and suspension, and dominated the market. In the quest for additional annual revenue, I became the largest distribution point for three national wholesalers, consulted to manufacturer design teams, and built a customer base that covered four states, and included world class custom shops, and world champion race teams.
