    • Accounting
    • Managing Partner
      • Feb 1973 - Present

After qualifying as a chartered accountant with Pannell Fitzpatrick ( Pannell Kerr Forster) in London I returned to Sunderland to work for the partnership Milburn Torgersen where my father was a partner. I accepted a partnership and have been here ever since. In 1974 I was introduced to Robert Oakshott who was a leading light in the Common Ownership movement and the firms connections with that movement continue to the present day advising common ownership companies and housing associations. Among the clients I adopted were a few small farmers. My interest in the agricultural sector has continued and I have been involved in advising farmers for over 40 years about finance, tax, incorporations, diversification, succession and general farm business matters. I now deal with many of the day to day business matters of our own business which gives an insight to those same problems confronting many small clients.
