I served approximately 26 consecutive years while only missing two meetings. The school district has grown to include a majority Hispanic population. This is a rural/small-town school district that my children and now my grandchildren attend. My experience as an educator has given me the advantage of understanding the needs of students, parents, and staff. I have served on a number of occasions as the board president. The district is very successful and has shown much academic growth thanks to a good relationship between the board and staff. Our music program is one of the finest and has always received support from the board even in challenging economic times. Our schools currently provide Chromebooks for student use at school and at home. Show less

Bilingual Elementary Education Teacher

For 37 years I have taught grades TK to 4th grade in California. I have also worked with Head Start, Migrant Education and First Five. I tutored college students for a semester while attending school. I also served as a mentor teacher for two years. As an elementary school teacher I have had success with numerous special needs students including those with autism, speech, and other physical challenges. I also tutored after-school students. I utilized Spanish as a support in transferring concepts from Spanish into English. I have enjoyed working with students from various backgrounds and languages. Show less
