Having begun my studies at the University of Oxford, I was keen to continue with Swimming, now at the University club. I have recently competed in the annual Varsity competition and attend training sessions up to 4 times each week. I have also been newly elected as the social secretary for the second team, a highly responsible role involving the organisation, planning and delivery of engaging social activities for members of the squad. • Beckenham Swimming Club member
      • Sep 2016 - Oct 2021

Former member of Beckenham Swimming Club in South East London for 5 years. Starting as just an amateur swimmer I attended intense training sessions between 4-5 times each week. 3 years later I competed with the club team at National level, participating in both solo races and team medleys. This was one of the most valuable experiences I have had not only due to the intensity of the sport but also due to how it’s shaped my ability to handle situations in which you are put under immense pressure. • Aug 2021 - Aug 2021

I have been able to work with a great selection of top engineers and gain valuable experience in working with other people to solve problems, deliver pitches and think scientifically. Across the 5 day internship I was able to engage in and experience real world engineering, such as designing and printing our own aerofoil which we later tested in a water tunnel, assembling a glider and exploring the cockpit of a commercial aeroplane. I also learned about concepts outside of my own physics syllabus such as fluid dynamics. This has enabled me to vastly improve my confidence in presenting my ideas to other people, meanwhile also giving me a real world flavour of what engineering is like as a career, as well as other scientific roles. • Chemistry Masterclasses
      • May 2021 - Jun 2021

I attended 2 online Chemistry masterclasses held by current students from Corpus Christi college Cambridge. These sessions involved in depth discussions of concepts and areas of study beyond the breadth of the A level Chemistry syllabus. This gave me a greater insight into how concepts studied in the Chemistry classroom can be combined and manipulated to create powerful new technologies. One example was a filtration system designed to filter out toxic Arsenic from the water consumed in some regions of Bangladesh. Show less

    • Exploring Everyday Chemistry - MOOC
      • May 2021 - Jun 2021

I completed a 1 month daily course which focused on difficult areas of Organic Chemistry. This was particularly relevant to me since I am interested in potentially specialising in this field later on in my university course. This course advanced my knowledge of some of the mechanisms of Organic Chemistry, especially when looking at interactions between different functional groups. I found it especially useful since it advanced my understanding of Organic Chemistry while I was still studying in the first year of the A level course, which allowed for an easier transition to the second year of A level Chemistry, meanwhile also broadening my knowledge of Organic Chemistry outside of the A level.
