Conduct technical audits within the council, study such factors as current or future operating costs, personnel strengths rates, maintenance or repair requirements, and monitor the availability of services. Performs regional planning and coordination functions by developing and producing a yearly strategic plan that is in compliance with the council and the VA State Office of EMS. Serve on numerous state and local committees to assist in the establishment and functionality of EMS providers in Virginia. Serves as the primary liaison with hospital administrative staff, elected officials, and seven local governments to maintain an effective working relationship. Built collaborative relationships with UVA Health System, Charlottesville and seven local counties which resulted in more effective working partnerships. Provide advice and guidance to counterparts within the council and other agencies by participating in problem solving conferences and seminars. Established the council as a Designated Regional Council by Virginia Dept. of Health and Human Services. Responsible for all human resources functions in accordance with established directives.   Served as a state certified EMS paramedic with Piedmont Emergency Medical Services and was responsible for providing pre-hospital emergency medical support to the citizens of York County. Paramedic duties continuously entailed exercising sound judgment, leadership and the ability to perform the duties in a highly responsible manner in either a hostile or very stressful work environment. Responsible for preparing detailed and comprehensive written reports regarding all EMS emergency and routine activity that occurred while on duty. Communicated through a series of dispatches on either a mobile or hand held radio, able to speak clearly and distinctly through radio communication. Responsible for properly training new personnel as an EMS field trainer. This entailed placing new trainees into a department orientation and field training program by instructing them on all aspects of departmental standard operating procedures (SOP), state and federal policy and regulations that are used in the field of EMS. Served as the operations manager providing scheduling for 60 fulltime and 100 part-time employees. This entailed implementing an online scheduling software package that streamlined the scheduling process which eliminated scheduling errors and redundancy. Responsible for computing statistical data on all emergency calls which calculated the hours and cost of providing medical services. Also calculated statistical data which computed cost per hour for standbys and special events. Responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies for 8 stations and 10 fully equipped ambulances. Also ordered and maintained all uniforms and accessories for all employees and was able to negotiate new uniform contracts and implement an employee uniform allowance. Responsible for setting up and attending various public relations events in order to promote Piedmont EMS to the local community. Implemented and coordinated EMS coverage for sporting events at Winthrop University. Show less
