  I mostly work in two fields: editing and proofreading translations into English and texts written by non-native speakers of English, and teaching English as a foreign language. I also conduct English language examinations and occasionally do some translation (Hungarian into English or Polish into English). I have over 10 years experience in editing translations and texts written in English by non-native speakers, correcting grammar, vocabulary and stylistic errors and improving the presentation and impact of the text. I have worked on many texts in a wide variety of fields and genres including academic journal articles and books (on Law, Economics, Psychology, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Public Administration, Fine Art, History and Urban Planning), marketing web pages and brochures, formal letters, PhD theses, computer game elements and various types of advertising materials. Most of these texts have been by Hungarian authors, and my knowledge of Hungarian has helped me to "translate the translation" and work out what the author wanted to express, or check a translation with its original. I also have experience with authors from other language backgrounds which I have some knowledge of, including Polish, Romanian and Czech. So far I have received almost all my work of this type through word-of-mouth recommendations, and have never advertised my services. These kinds of tasks are usually to a tight deadline and urgently needed, as unfortunately most authors only think of having their work edited at a very late stage, just before the submission deadline, so I am typical required to be rapid in my work and flexible in my approach. I have taught English as a foreign language since 1998, to all ability levels and age groups, including examination preparation, learning materials development, one-to-one language tuition, pre-sessional academic English courses and in-company classes.
