As Babylon expanded rapidly, Stephen was brought in to oversee the UK entity (which contained the majority of activity) and the Global FinOps function. Stephen is exactly who we needed when coming in. With his experience in large corporations he gave great insight to myself, leadership, and his organisation and drove transformational change across the FinOps function (especially the AP team) and UK team. Whilst strong on changing processes, Stephen is conscious to consider personal and cultural impacts of change, which was very helpful in decision making. Stephen has my complete recommendation if your business is large scale, or if your business needs leaders to make transformational and organisational change.

Stephen was a great asset who was prepared to go the extra mile and was a collaborative team player. He was a joy to work with and I would have no hesitation in recommending him.

Finance leader, reporting to the Global FD at Babylon Health: is a globally-based digital-first health service provider and value-based care company that combines an artificial intelligence powered platform with virtual clinical operations for patients. The company has been on a high-growth trajectory for several years and was ranked the 3rd fastest growing company in the UK with turnover more than tripling in 2021 to £260m. I have been responsible for the UK and International accounting close as well as managing global financial operations overseeing a team of 11 with the aim of driving change to meet business needs whilst providing financial oversight and controls to manage risks. I have been a key initiator of formulating reporting and process improvements as well as implementation to satisfy both financial and business leadership decision-making in a rapid-growth environment. Additionally, I have supported the FD to continuously evolve and deploy financial strategy in a rapidly evolving business environment including executing on working capital requirements, managing resourcing and running projects that reduce manual processes and increase automation whilst providing greater oversight and financial control. Generation is led by ex-Vice President of USA Al Gore and David Blood (ex-CEO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management) and focuses on long-term sustainable investment as best practice for the investment industry. I was hired at Director level to business partner the senior leadership team and help define the company’s financial strategy as well as advise on optimum systems and infrastructure. This involved annual budget and forecasting management and delivery, development of financial reporting, team management (2 people) and process enhancements and improvements. Show less

I joined the investment banking part of Barclays in its legal entity reporting function, which at the time had recently expanded the team to develop MI and build a greater understanding of the performance of its 3 legal entities in the US, UK, and EMEA (Dublin hub). Among a number of key activities, I provided modelling, viewpoints and guidance, including forecasting transfer pricing to forecast splits across all holding companies, produced MI on variances across Group businesses within holding companies and prepared analysis and commentary, as required as well as facilitated cross-business and cross-function liaison. I was Financial Controller for 6 years in Investment Banking. This was the result of gradually progressing through 3 other roles in the bank: starting as Senior Financial Analyst for Global Markets / Futures, moving to become Finance Associate for the Investment Bank and then becoming Product Controller for the M&A / Equity Capital Markets team. I increased the depth of analysis and financial review of various market and deal-related activities which provided greater insights for management. I also helped realise performance improvements, increased financial controls and produced monthly reporting packs, highlighting risk factors and explaining technical issues as well as developing action / resolution plans. I was hired to manage the weekly Global and EMEA Management Reporting which included reconciliation, analysis and review of global pipeline and top 20 deals and liaised with the Management team, where appropriate, to investigate any changes requiring further investigation. I also prepared ad hoc reporting focusing on gaining a greater understanding through enhanced analysis and reporting of revenues - particularly for client-specific business cases. I was promoted after a little over a year to Senior Finance Analyst - IT and was responsible for the entire OPEX spend budget valued - at the time - at well over £100m per annum. As well as being responsible for the accurate delivery of the quarterly and annual forecasting process, I was Business Partner to Senior Management. Show less

I held full responsibility for preparing and collating full sets of management and financial accounts on a monthly basis for the business’s two biggest titles, namely ‘Euromoney’ magazine and ‘Hedge Fund Intelligence’ (HFI) (with - at the time - combined turnovers of approx. £20m). I regularly talked these accounts through review with business group managers and directors and had four accounting staff reporting to me for HFI and two administrators for Euromoney.
