I first met Steven through the Homebrew Robotics Club, and we worked together to win the Kinect Challenge, 2nd place in the NASA Rover Sample Retrieval challenge, and on the Service Robot prototype. I think this best describes Steve's technical competence: "If it's broken, he'll fix it; working he'll improve it; doesn't exist; he'll invent it.

I know Steve from the 2015 NASA Robot Challenge - we were on the same team. I know Steve to have a full-range of versatile technical skills. I know him to be a specialist in Robotics, IoT, and Artificial Intelligence. I have personally observed him working on a wide-range of technical areas including Networking Infrastructure, Radio Frequency devices, Robot Operating System (ROS) , plus Robot Arms & Grippers. We are both members of SV-ROS and the Homebrew Robotics Club, where I have seen him demonstrate his hands-on technical skills - and where I have heard him speak knowledgeably regarding Machine Learning and Reenforcement Learning amongst his peers and colleagues. Steve is one of those Silicon Valley geniuses you can throw anything at - and he will figure it out. Steve is a kind, cool, dedicated human being and we all respect him very much.

Working on the software, electronics and systems integration for robots that serve us(instead of the other way around) at a small robot startup in San Francisco focused on the restaurant service & delivery space. Building the plane while flying it, I do all my own stunts and like to make things go. Systems Software Engineer for a leader in the cluster computing software industry. As a member of a small team of system software engineers, I worked on the development of the Scyld Clusterware product through multiple product cycles. My main accomplishments were the enhancement of the cluster metrics and monitoring protocols (and ultimately user tools), implementation of a failover functionality on compute nodes, and enhancements to the provisioning system to speed booting of compute nodes even as the cluster scaled from tens to hundreds of compute nodes. I also wrote shell scripts to enhance the Clusterware suite of command-line management tools and provided 3rd/4th level developer support. Show less
