As a Church Strengthening Intern, I worked within the Sinnissippi Baptist Association in coordination with the Illinois Baptist State Association to identify methods of revitalization and development among SBC churches in Northwestern Illinois. My duties included creating surveys for church planting, interviewing pastors to facilitate communication within the Association and between the Association and the IBSA, and creating lesson plans to lead classes. The internship centered around church development and pairing individual churches with Associational resources. During my time, I learned more about the behind-the-scenes aspects of pastoral ministry, such as: planning for VBS, leading youth camps, and meeting with other leaders to coordinate church events. This allowed me to explore what it means to do the hands-on work of ministry and communicate with church leaders to benefit their church communities and those beyond. Show less
