I had the privilege for a year to work closely with Stephen as a supervisor in his role as a Resident Assistant. Stephen was a true delight to work with and an exceptional team member on the Residence Life Team. Three things that Stephen excels at and can add value to any company or team: 1. Stephen is incredibly consistent and reliable. He has a rare ability to balance both results and relationships given to him with grace, excellence, teachability, and empathy. Stephen was the go-to team member when tasks needed to be accomplished with low supervision. Stephen would faithfully complete tasks above and beyond what was asked of him. 2. Stephen is emotionally intelligent. One of Stephen's top strengths is his ability to relate to a wide variety of individuals and to build high trust relationships with them. Stephen has strong, active listening skills and awareness of team dynamics that make him invaluable in fostering a healthy culture of respect, belonging, and safety. 3. Stephen has an extensive background in international and multicultural affairs. Stephen has invaluable experience in areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) regarding building a diverse team from many backgrounds. Stephen is a champion of those from multiethnic professional backgrounds and someone who could contribute to more significant DEI efforts on any professional team. Overall, Stephen was one of the best leaders I have worked with. I would highly recommend him professionally without reservation.

      • May 2021 - Aug 2021

As a Church Strengthening Intern, I worked within the Sinnissippi Baptist Association in coordination with the Illinois Baptist State Association to identify methods of revitalization and development among SBC churches in Northwestern Illinois. My duties included creating surveys for church planting, interviewing pastors to facilitate communication within the Association and between the Association and the IBSA, and creating lesson plans to lead classes. The internship centered around church development and pairing individual churches with Associational resources. During my time, I learned more about the behind-the-scenes aspects of pastoral ministry, such as: planning for VBS, leading youth camps, and meeting with other leaders to coordinate church events. This allowed me to explore what it means to do the hands-on work of ministry and communicate with church leaders to benefit their church communities and those beyond. Show less
